Trustees to apply for county ditch petition for Roland Estates Watershed
In reference to the public meeting, held July 23, 2008, the Harrison Township Trustees have
decided to apply for a ditch petition with the Licking County Commissioners and Licking County
Engineer. It is the belief of the trustees that this is the next logical step in alleviating the water
runoff issues in the Roland Estates Watershed. Futhermore, the township will furnish a $500.00
application fee to be used toward engineering and other studies necessary to determine the
best and most effective way to eliminate the drainage problems in said watershed. Once the
application is filed, the county commissioners will schedule a viewing of the affected areas, then
to be followed by a public hearing on the matter. There will be a second, and final, hearing in
which a decision, by the county commissioners, to either move forward with the project or cancel
the project, will be rendered. Additionally, the affected property owners will be notified in
advance of the meeting times so that they can adjust his or her schedules accordingly. These
meetings will be the public's forums to either voice support or opposition to the project. As
stated at the public meeting, July 23rd, this is the only course of action that the township, or any
other public entity, can take to remedy drainage issues on private property. Currently, there is a
support page that is at the township administration building, located at 6750 Outville Rd., which
can be signed and turned in with the petitions. Please visit us during regular business hours,
before August 9th, to sign this form. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding
with this matter.
